Reciprocal Judicial Assistance in Seizure of Wang Chuan-pu’s Assets

News Release by Supreme Prosecutors Office 2010.09.03 The Special Investigation Division of the Supreme Prosecutors Office has just been notified by Mr. Andrew John Belhomme, the prosecutor for the Attorney General of the Bailiwick of Jersey, that upon the request for reciprocal judicial assistance made by prosecutors of the Republic of China, Mr. Timothy Le Cocq – the Attorney General of Jersey –– has on August 25, 2010 applied to the Royal Court of Jersey to implement “saisie judiciare” (judicial seizure) against financial assets in the amount of approximately 4.5 million British Pounds, that were deposited by Wang Chuan-pu and Bruno Wang in various accounts with Jersey’s local banks, which are related to their proceeds from the R.O.C. military procurement fraud case. Upon completion of determination of the application by the Royal Court, the Royal Court has issued a ruling on September 2, 2010 allowing the seizure pursuant to the “Proceeds of Crime (Jersey) Law 1999” and “Proceeds of Crime (Enforcement of Confiscation Orders) (Jersey) Regulations 2008”.
