High level supervision and guidance for simultaneous crackdowns

1. The Prosecutor-General is the convenor of high level meetings involving the chiefs and deputy chiefs of relevant ministries and departments for the “Crackdown on Illegal Firearms” action. After main targets for the crackdown have been determined by the meetings, the Taiwan High Court Prosecutors Office oversees prosecutors offices of the various district courts in directing the dedicated investigations conducted by judicial police authorities.
2. Where prosecuted cases are found to involve ownership of firearms, the prosecutorial, police, investigative and martial police authorities must all thoroughly investigate the source of the firearms, following the guidelines of “tracking the gun to the person, and tracking the person to the guns; investigate up for the source and follow down for developments”. All authorities must proactively investigate the involved suspects as well as the supply and demand, channels and sources of guns, so as to protect the safety and lives of the people and enforce law and order.
